Devil's Backbone 12/28/08

Sunshine, warmer temps and semi-dry trails made us get up and to Devil's Backbone on Sunday. This is the first time I've ridden it, I've been there to hike around, but never to ride. The trails are a lot of fun for Winter riding. I can only imagine hot the place must get in the Summer.
Paige and I, Dave B, Carey and Craig, Randy and Jimi James.

Boing! Wow I've seen pictures on "the internets" of this happening but never in real life.

Awesome day to be out on your bike! I love living in CO!

BBC Sox and Hoodies Are Here!

We got these bad boys in today. Made in Colorado by Save Our Soles.
BBC Hoodies are where it's at! Printed at Flappy's in Lyons with their signature Flappanola Yellow.

Riding Hall in December = Sweeeeet

I got out yesterday with Emma. Hall was in pretty good shape in the a.m., I'm sure the loop was muddy as it had the most snow. Awesome day!

Paige, Mikey and I went out to Lake Pueblo State Park on Sunday. Temps were in the 60's at least and the trails were dry as a bone! When we got there we got the bikes down, got all geared up and rode around a bit. Paige and I both got freaking goat heads in our tires! Only 1 tube between us, electrical tape and a patch kit. We patched em up and we were off.

Pueblo has a little of everything. Climbing and descending in the canyons was a lot of fun.

The singletrack around the Lake was nice. This is VOODOO about a 10 mile loop around Lake Pueblo. It offers really cool views and a smooth trail to spin on.

The next day was a little different. I went out to Hall before it started snowing. It was great to be out there knowing that the next day it was going to be covered in snow. I was the only person out there at the time. Just me my bike and lots and lots of deer(check out that big ol buck).

We will be driving south to Pueblo on Sunday. Anyone want to join us? I heard it's dry and it's supposed to be 59 and sunny. Wahoo!

If you're not going with us, check out The State Championship CX race in Boulder.

El Guapo Rojo

I got the guys and gals down at Spectrum Powder Works to paint my El Guapo! It's so nice, new decals, and nice red/gold flake paint. Spectrum does such a great job, they are by far the best place to take your frame to get painted.

Good photos from the past and present.

Looking through some old photos. Got some cool ones from this past summer and more recent. Even got one of Dave Wiens' old Litespeed!

Bangtail Divide Montana Near Bozeman.

Long's Peak with The Moon right above, a beautiful CO morning.

Dave Wiens' Litespeed. Dave kicks ass! I don't know him or anything, but whoever kicks Lance's ass and then says he won't race in the Tour de France because he likes ridin' on the dirt is just cool.

Solo Mission, brozart.

Fun times indeed! I went on a solo mission to the Western Slope this past weekend. Lyons was all nasty and dreary, like 55 degrees and raining. So, packed up the old truck and went back to CB.

Great weather for riding, in the 60's and partly sunny. First I rode Reno/Flag/Bear/Deadman's.

I thought it was pretty darn bueno.

The next day I rode Teocalli Ridge. I haven't done this beast in a long time. Can you say climbing, kids? Jesus Christ, a lot of climbing.

So worth it though! That's looking towards Pearl Pass and Aspen. Crazy mountains.

Stars and Stripes, Winter Park, Fireworks and a Skunk

Paige and I rode out in WP for The 4th. Sweet riding. We rode from Fraser up through some secret trail to more secret trail down and up Tippery Creek.

We took the Chinook and camped out the night before. This was the Chinook's maiden voyage and she was awesome! This vehicle rules!

We got back to Lyons around 7:00, had a couple of margeritas and headed up the hill and past the "L" to watch the fireworks from Estes Park. We got up there and could not see Estes' fireworks but got to see Loveland,Longmont, Frederick and I think Broomfield's fireworks shows!

When we were coming back down Harvey got sprayed by a skunk! Aw man, we bathed him 4 times and he still smells like Pepe' la Pu!

What a day!

Off to Crested Butte! Going to be a blast. What can be better, Dale's Pale Ale, Bitterbrush Race Team, endless singletrack, and Harvey Dog.

Oh yeah The Brick Oven and late nights at The Talk of the Town.

Wahoo!

The Raconteurs new album, Consolers of the Lonely rules! You have to go out and get this. It truly is refreshing to hear such good music. I think Jack White is secretly happy playing with such a good band.
